The state committee is made up of dartball players from around the state of Wisconsin. The main duty of the committee is to run the annual 9-person state tournament, and to help promote dartball in the state of Wisconsin. All members are volunteers. The committee has been in existence in one form or another since the start of the state tournament back in 1939. In the late 1970's the committee was led by Doug Johnson, who was a director of recreation for the school district of West Allis-West Milwaukee. In October of 2000, Doug stepped away from the group, and Harry Roecker took over as director. The group has grown as the locations of the tournament has also. Most members of the committee are from a host city or area. The group meets annually to plan for the next state tournaments, and review the past tournament. In 2002, they held the first ever state 4-man tournament. Four man tournaments have become more popular in recent years, so it was natural to have a state tournament. The annual event hasn't grown to be as popular as the annual 9 person tournament, but is has drawn top teams from through out the state. In 2009, the state committee will hold the state 9-person tournament in Wisconsin Dells for the first time ever. This is the first time the committee will host the tournament as a group effort. They hope bringing the tournament to a new area will contribute to the growth of the sport. By partnering with the Ho-chunk Hotel and Convention center, it will also be the first tournament where you can stay at the same location that you shoot. The state committee also sponsors this Wisconsin Dartball web site: www.widartball.com. They will always listen to suggestions to improve the state tournament or the web site, or to help promote dartball. Please e-mail any questions or suggestions to: info@widartball.com. Below is the names of the state committee members and a brief biography of each member.
